Does anyone miss the year 2000?

The U.S. economy was strong, growth was solid, unemployment was low. The government posted a record budget surplus for a second straight year, third consecutive surplus overall. 9/11 and the following war on terrorism had yet to happen. That cheesy, but strangely loveable teen pop was at its peak. The Big Mouth Silly B wall toy. 'nuff said. Above all, with 2000 being the turn of the millenium, there was hope and optimism for the future all around us. What the hell happened?!
