Does the word "honesty" have value in politics?

I'll go even further, since the dawn of time the leaders of men have not always been honest. I can't think of one. Being honest in politics means laying all your faults on the table, which will be openly attacked and criticized, and your lying opponent will use that to their advantage to bring you down. I think the truth is that leaders cannot be honest, or else they won't be trusted, because ultimately no one can be. Fact: people make mistakes, but when we want leaders, we think of ideal heroes. Heroes don't make mistakes.
