What is this red spot on my ?

about a week ago i noticed that there was a slightly raised, circular red bump a little smaller than a dime on my right cheek. the surface of the skin there was a bit flaky/scaly, and was sensitive if i poked at it, but i'm sure i would never have noticed it if i didn't happen to brush my fingers over it. I didn't do anything to it for a few days because it wasn't bothering me and i figured it might go away on its own, but is still looked the same, and i decided i wanted to get rid of it. I was thinking that it was ringworm fungus, and my roomate seemed to think that menthol would kill the fungus, so i ended up putting vic's vapor rub on it with a band aid over it (silly i know), which didn't help and made it more red and sensitive, so i finally made an appointment at health services on my college campus. when i showed it to the doctor there, the surface of the skin was now a bit glossy like a blister, so he told me it that was an abrasion or rug burn even though i explained that the bump was definitely not rug burn as i have not dragged my *** across any carpets lately, it literally appeared out of nowhere. regardless, he didn't care and just gave me some anti-bacterial ointment to put on it, and told me it should go away in a few days. it's been a few days and ive still got the stupid thing, like i said it's not bothering me physically - ever since ive had it it will occasionally itch but very faintly, so i can't exactly say that it's itchy - but it just kinda weirds me out and i know that whatever it is, it probably shouldn't be there. so can any one tell me what the heck it is?
